Mallorca presents the Pledge
The Insular Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality of the Consell de Mallorca, Susanna Sciacovelli, presented the Commitment to Responsible Tourism, Pledge, to professionals of the premium segment in Madrid. The event, which was held in collaboration with Essentially Mallorca, headed by its president, Jesús Cuartero, was attended by journalists and agencies focused on this product.
The event, held at the Urso Hotel&Spa in Madrid under the slogan “Mallorca, the silent luxury”, highlighted both public and private initiatives that are being carried out to consolidate the island as a truly responsible and sustainable destination, capable of maintaining the essence that makes it unique.
At the meeting, Sciacovelli stressed that Mallorca is changing its tourism management model, with the Commitment to Responsible Tourism as the roadmap to follow. He also stressed that “we work to maintain the essence, identity and image, focusing on protection, regeneration and preservation. Tourism is the main economic engine of Mallorca and our goal is to improve the coexistence of the island within a framework of sustainable development of tourism. The aim is to “protect and regenerate the qualities and values that make the island a wonderful place to live, as well as a wonderful place to visit”.
The director explained the different commitments included in the Pledge, highlighting the work for circularity carried out by the destination of Mallorca, integrating residents and visitors to achieve a balance between the environment and travellers.
For his part, the president of Essentially Mallorca explained the commitment to improve the destination that respects the territory and is committed to sustainability with the aim, as he said, “to promote sustainable tourism and configure an island where visitors and residents coexist, enjoy, experience and preserve the nature, values and beauty of Mallorca”.
This meeting has also served to formalize Essentially’s adhesion and commitment to the Pledge, staging this commitment with the signing of the Pledge and the presentation of the different sustainability and circularity actions carried out by the companies of the luxury segment of Mallorca.
In this way, the decision-makers of the luxury segment present at the event were informed about the destination of Mallorca as the rediscovery of a sustainable and close destination, which is committed to culture, heritage, gastronomy, local products and craftsmanship. Values and sensory experiences guide the visitor through a silent and environmentally friendly Mallorca, as well as hotels with essence located in unique enclaves.
A sustainable destination, promoted by both the Consell de Mallorca and Essentially Mallorca, offering a concept of luxury inspired by protection, tradition as inspiration, taking as references the local product, the artisans of Mallorca or the gastronomic tradition as essential elements. Mallorca offers hotels with the essence of Mallorca in exclusive enclaves and the gastronomic culture of the island.
To close the event, a tasting of local products from Mallorca prepared by the chef of La Fortaleza (Cap Rocat Hotel), Víctor Garcia, was offered, followed by a networking space in which the elements promoted by both the Consell de Mallorca and Essentially for the premium product, inspired by protection, tradition as inspiration through the promotion of local products, craftsmanship and gastronomic tradition, among other key elements, were highlighted.
