The Board of Mayors of the Serra de Tramuntana
The Consell de Mallorca has formed the Serra de Tramuntana Mayors’ Committee for this legislative term, a body in which the representatives of the local councils set the lines and guidelines for action for a common policy of the different local corporations and the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium.
The Bureau was attended by the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, the Councilor of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, the Director of the Serra de Tramuntana, Antoni Solivellas, and representatives of the twenty municipalities that make up the Serra de Tramuntana.
With the constitution of the new Board, the new representatives of the mayors on the Consortium’s Governing Board, the Consortium’s governing body, were chosen. The persons elected unanimously were the mayor of Esporles, Josep Ferrà, and the mayor of Sóller, Miquel Nadal.
The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, emphasized that “the Serra de Tramuntana is a treasure that must not only be protected, but we must also guarantee its future, and we are working towards this goal. It is a priority to unify criteria, streamline responses to the needs of each Serra de Tramuntana village, and strengthen and optimize joint work with them. On the other hand, the new Serra de Tramuntana law, agreed upon by consensus and with the participation of all stakeholders, will become a reality this term of office.
Along the same lines, the Serra de Tramuntana island director, Antoni Solivellas, stressed that “one of our priorities is to streamline administrative procedures. This unique natural area must be enhanced. Once again, I assure all the municipal teams, the residents and the people who work in the Serra de Tramuntana of my full support”.
1.7% increase in the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium’s budget by 2024
Following the meeting of the Serra de Tramuntana Mayors’ Committee, the first Governing Board of the new legislature unanimously approved the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium’s budget for 2024, which stands at 2,617,280 euros, representing a 1.7% increase over the previous year.
This figure includes the Consortium’s two main lines of action, on the one hand, subsidies for individuals, companies, entities and town councils, and on the other, to cover activities to disseminate and promote the values that have made it possible for the Serra de Tramuntana to be declared a World Heritage Site. Among these items, those dedicated to education, with the “Service Learning” programme, and to sports activities, with the “Serra de Tramuntana Races” programme, stand out. In addition, for the first time, the Consortium will be present at all the fairs held in the municipalities that make up the Serra de Tramuntana.
