The Consell de Mallorca extends free parking service
This Monday, the Consell de Mallorca presented the second part of the season at Palma’s Teatre Principal: a total of 40 titles, including theatre, music, opera, family shows, dance and circus, and 64 performances make up the public theatre’s programme from February to June. In addition to this programme, there are 12 institutional shows and events and three-stage activities for schools.
The second part of the season also opens with new features for spectators and in the purchase process. The Consell de Mallorca is extending the free parking service, which began during the Christmas season, to family shows at the Teatre Principal: in eight different shows, spectators will be able to enjoy two hours free of charge in the car parks of Plaza Mayor, Vía Roma and Antoni Maura. In addition, from now on, and to facilitate public access, it will be possible to pay for tickets using Bizum.

Theatre will be the main protagonist this semester with 17 theatrical productions and 29 performances. Classics such as La Vida es sueño by Calderón de la Barca, which could be enjoyed on 3 and 4 February in a version by the English company Cheek by Jowl; La mala dicción, which will be performed on 30 March; Coriolà by William Shakespeare, on 7 April; Coralina, la sirvienta amorosa, on 13 April, and La casa de Bernarda Alba, by Federico García Lorca, on 3 and 4 May.
Within the theatrical section, the programme also includes new and current plays such as Sí, sí, sí, sí; Los días buenos; CR#SH; Hijas de la Misericordia; Tan solo el fin del mundo; Las niñas zombi; María Luisa; Una isla and Yo, travesti. As for family shows, highlights include La reina dels embulls, a co-production with Aina Zuazaga; and Sabates vermelles by the Sifón Company.
The 38th opera season continues with La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny)
The 38th opera season continues at Palma’s Teatre Principal with La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny) by G. Verdi on the 28th of February, 1st and 3rd of March. It will continue with Stabat Mater, on the 24th of March; Hansel and Gretel, on the 5th and 6th of April, and Roméo et Juliette, on the 22nd, 24th and 26th of May.
Music will also be very much present at the Teatre Principal.
As for concerts, Miguel Poveda will perform on the 8th of March as part of the III Festival Paco de Lucía Mallorca. There will also be music by the Menorcan Cris Juanico; Marga Pocoví and Biel Tous; Sheila Blanco; Aina Tramullas and the Teatre Principal choirs, who will give the end-of-year concert. In addition, the public hall will host two seasonal concerts by the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands: on the 7th of March, with the violinist Francisco Fullana as soloist and conductor, and on the 18th of April, dedicated to the Belle Époque.
Finally, it should be noted that there will also be a dance and a circus. In dance, one of the highlights will be The Dogs and Scroll. And in the circus, there will be two shows: Picasso (king, monster and clown) and Cuirassa oberta.
