In a telematic meeting held today, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Jaume Bauzà, and the Director General of Sports, Joan Antoni Ramonell, have asked the President of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, for the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport to finance 100% of the cost of transport to the mainland for athletes and clubs from the Balearic Islands. In this way, “Balearic athletes will be able to compete on equal terms with the clubs on the mainland, which do not have to pay the cost of air or boat travel,” added Bauzà.

The heads of the CSD have pledged to attend to the request, which affects all the non-mainland territories, and to make it effective in the 2024 state budget.
The meeting also raised the possibility of extending the deadlines for the execution and justification of the European Funds for the modernisation of sports infrastructures until the end of 2026.
