The Consell de Mallorca organized the first trip to the snow
The participants will travel to Grandvalira – Pas de la Casa (Andorra) this Sunday, where they will spend six days and five nights until March 1. The Consell de Mallorca has subsidized 70% of the total cost of the experience, so the final price is 303 euros which includes flights, transport, accommodation with full board, equipment rental, ski pass, ski lessons, leisure activities and insurance.
The insular institution has received 442 applications during the pre-registration period to fill the 61 places available. The selection among those interested who met the age and residence requirements was made by public lottery to offer users the same possibilities. Once the selected person has made the corresponding payment, the final allocation of the place has been made.
The island director of Youth and Participation, Alicia Vinaixa, stressed the importance of “establishing spaces to practice healthy leisure and promote values such as participation”. In the same way, she explained that “this kind of experiences allow to promote new social relationships among young people”.
Vinaixa has described as a success the reception of the pilot project because “it shows that young people are eager to have opportunities that provide new stimuli in different environments”.
