The jury of the City Merit Awards 2024, chaired by the councillor of the Presidency, Salvador Losa, and made up of representatives of all the political groups of the island corporation, representatives of Fomento de Turismo de la isla de Ibiza (Antonio Marí), of APNEEF (Asunción Fresneda), of the Asociación Amigos de su Música (Nélida Boned), of Ibicine (Helher Escribano) and of the award winners of the 2024 City Merit Awards (Nélida Boned), of Ibicine (Helher Escribano) and the 2023 Gold Medal winners (Joan Marí Ferrer representing the Casino des Moll), has chosen Helen Watson (posthumously), Foto Estudio Raymar, the Agroeivissa Cooperative and Trasmapi as winners of the 2024 Citizen Merit Award from among the 9 nominations presented in the public call.

Helen Watson has been recognised for her valuable social and advocacy work at the head of the Ibiza and Formentera Cancer Association for more than thirteen years, promoting progress in the health and social welfare of the island’s citizens. Watson died last July, and this is a posthumous award.
Foto Estudio Raymar receives the award in recognition of its professional career and work of more than 60 years, which has made it one of the leading photographic studios for island society, an example of a family business with an important social link to Eivissa, where generations of Ibizans have passed through and had their portraits taken.
The Agroeivissa Cooperative, on its 25th anniversary, received the Citizen’s Merit award in recognition of its key work in promoting and encouraging activity in the Ibizan countryside and the production and consumption of local produce and autochthonous varieties.
Trasmapi, in its 50th anniversary, in recognition of a company that was a pioneer in the nautical sector in Eivissa, starting its activity of regular transport line between the Pitiusas in the decade of the 70’s until today.
The awards will be presented in the official ceremony that will take place on the 19th of April. The president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, has congratulated each one of the award winners giving “congratulations for a recognition to a whole life of dedication to the work, the people and the rural world of Eivissa, being an example of what we should feel proud of”.
