The Consell de Mallorca will name the Princess of Asturias as the adoptive daughter of Mallorca
The Consell de Mallorca wishes to grant Princess Leonor de Borbón the distinction of adoptive daughter of the island on the occasion of the Prizes, Honours and Distinctions that the island’s institution will award for the Diada, which this year will be held on 12 September. In the coming months, the initiative will have to be debated and approved in a plenary session of the island institution. President Llorenç Galmés hopes that “the proposal will go ahead with the maximum possible consensus among the political forces represented on the Consell”. Afterwards, the official proposal will be passed on to the Royal Household.
The president of the National Monarchist Brotherhood of Spain, José Fernández, met a few weeks ago with the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and during the meeting, he raised the possibility of granting this recognition to the Princess of Asturias for her links with Mallorca. President Galmés stressed that “Mallorca has seen the future Queen of Spain grow up, as she follows the family tradition of spending her holidays on our island, reinforcing her love for this land and taking the name of Mallorca all over the world
“. Galmés concluded that “the appointment of Princess Elionor as an adopted daughter of Mallorca is a sign of gratitude and recognition of her appreciation for our island”.
