Mónica Mesquida, from Binissalem, won in the youngest category, and Rosario Ortega, from Maó, in the 9-12 years category.

This competition was organised by the Regional Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility, through the Institut Cartogràfic i Geogràfic de les Illes Balears (Balearic Islands Cartographic and Geographical Institute).

Twenty drawings were entered in the category for the youngest children, aged six to eight, while five drawings were submitted in the category for the nine to twelve age group.

Drawings were received from Mallorca, Eivissa and Menorca, with eleven, twelve and two participants, respectively, reflecting the geographical diversity of the competition.

Special mention should be made of the support provided by the school tutors, who accompanied fourteen participants.

The members of the jury emphasised the difficulty of the task of evaluating the works, given the quality and originality of each drawing.

The two winners of the competition, Mónica Mesquida and Rosario Ortega, received their prizes today -two briefcases of drawing material- from the Director General of Urban Planning Coordination and Harmonisation, Maria Paz Andrade, and the manager of the Institut Cartogràfic i Geogràfic de les Illes Balears, Manuel Bennassar.
