The Consell de Govern has authorised the granting of a direct subsidy of 5,500,000 euros to the Consell Insular de Menorca for the execution of the actions included in the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations 2022, within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, financed by the Next Generation EU fund.
These actions are included in the CAIB’s Strategy for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations document, specifically in the Cohesion Actions between Destinations. The application of the Consell Insular de Menorca focuses on the purchase of emblematic, landscape or naturalisation areas and on biodiversity and conservation projects for the natural environment of the Biosphere Reserve, which will be managed by the Consell Insular de Menorca.
By 30 June 2026, these projects must be completed and justified. Likewise, by the fourth quarter of 2024, the Consell Insular de Menorca must have executed at least 30% of the projects.
