In its first ten months of operation, the 028 service has provided a total of 7,845 services to victims of lgtbiphobia. Of these, 6,470 have been telephone calls (around 650 per month), 583 chats have been attended to and a further 792 e-mails have been sent.

It makes us better as democratic societies and as people,” said the minister.
Redondo stressed the importance of 028, “a necessary service”. In this regard, the minister expressed concern about the data from the Ministry of the Interior, which show that there is an increase in hate crimes and that the second most common motive is sexual orientation or gender identity.
Also known as the Arcoíris telephone number, it is an anonymous, free, confidential and accessible information and assistance service for victims of hate crimes and discrimination. It provides a free service to people all over Spain, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The service, which was launched on 5 July 2023, aims to extend information and help LGTBI+ people and their environment, giving visibility to this type of aggression and promoting social awareness, as well as coordination between the different resources and territories.
It is a resource linked to the entry into force of the Law for the real and effective equality of trans people and for the guarantee of the rights of LGTBI people, which can be contacted free of charge via telephone 028, by email or online chat.
Most of the telephone calls have required attention related to psychological support, hate crimes, intra-gender violence, discrimination and legal assistance.
Chat enquiries were mainly related to information on rights and benefits, legal support, psychological support, gender identity and intra-gender violence.

About the age of the users, 35% are people between 26 and 55 years of age. Ten per cent are calls from young people between 16 and 25 years of age, and the age of the remaining callers is unknown.
