The creation of the Higher School of Design of the Balearic Islands is authorised

Currently, the Balearic School of Art and Higher School of Design offer higher education in Design and higher level training cycles in Plastic Arts and Design of Special Regimes, and they work together at the administrative level, sharing facilities, teaching staff and management team. The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities considers it necessary to split this centre into two different ones: on the one hand, the School of Art of Palma, and on the other, the Higher School of Design, which was created through the draft decree approved today.

This split aims to achieve greater efficiency in the management of both schools and to have a differentiated educational offer.

According to the Education Law of the Balearic Islands, all higher education institutions, i.e. the Higher Conservatory of Music and Dance, the Higher School of Dramatic Art of the Balearic Islands (ESADIB) and the Higher School of Design, must form part of the Public Business Entity called the Institute of Higher Artistic Studies of the Balearic Islands (IEASIB), whose statutes are currently being drafted.
