The subsidies include the organisation of fairs and events, as well as projects to revitalise small and medium-sized traditional businesses.

The Consell de Mallorca allocates 700,000 euros to town councils
The total amount of the subsidies is 700,000 euros and the aim is to support all municipalities so that they can continue to promote and encourage the consumption of local produce.
The actions or events that will be eligible are those related to the organisation of trade fairs and trade shows that promote small and medium-sized businesses and Mallorcan products, as well as all kinds of projects to revitalise small and medium-sized local businesses.
In addition, all kinds of actions and campaigns in favour of traditional shops and, above all, those of local and proximity products, considered to be of short circuit, will also be subsidised.
The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, emphasised the island’s commitment “to supporting Mallorcan and local products”, because in this way, he said, “the island’s economy is reactivated and we encourage local consumption”.
For her part, the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, pointed out that these aids “are also focused on another of our major commitments in this term of office, which is none other than the revitalisation of small and medium-sized local commerce. We are aware that the sector needs a boost and that is what we are doing”.
This is the second package of subsidies aimed at promoting Mallorcan produce, after last week’s approval of a further 300,000 euros in aid for micro-enterprises, agricultural companies and profit-making bodies. Next week a third call for applications for aid is expected to be approved in the 2024 financial year, which will be aimed at non-profit associations.
Details of the call
The maximum amounts that can be granted per project are 20,000 euros for running costs and 20,000 euros for investment costs.
In addition, the maximum amount and the minimum score to qualify as a beneficiary have been abolished. The call for proposals is approved by the competitive concurrence system.
Among the project selection criteria, more positive points will be given to fairs with a greater number of stalls for their greater dynamisation of the economy, but higher points will also be given to town councils with smaller populations, to give them greater financial support.
The deadline for submitting applications and justifying expenses will be 20 working days. Of the total amount of 700,000 euros, 420,000 euros will be used to finance running costs and 280,000 euros for investment.
To provide greater legal certainty to beneficiaries, awards will be made during the second four-month period of the year and not in December as in previous years.
