This is an activity that encourages socialisation and active participation of the elderly and keeps them in touch with traditions.
A total of 40 elderly people of the residence Huialfàs have celebrated today their particular pancaritat in the oratory of Crestatx. The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the councillor of Social Welfare and president of the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS), Guillermo Sánchez, accompanied by the mayor of sa Pobla, Biel Ferragut, and the insular directors of Atención Sociosanitaria, Rosa Llobera, and that of Community Care and Promotion of Personal Autonomy, Catalina Maria Mascaró, have shared with these residents and some thirty professionals of the centre one of the most traditional events of this public residence managed by IMAS.

Pancaritat in Crestatx
“It is a joy to enjoy a day as special as today with the residents. This is a very important event both for them and for the workers at the residence in sa Pobla, as it is their way of celebrating the traditional Easter pilgrimage in good weather, away from the crowds and making them feel in touch with their roots,” said President Galmés.
For his part, the councillor Guillermo Sánchez remarked that “at IMAS we encourage the active ageing of the elderly, always according to their possibilities, and with activities like this one that allow them to develop their social relations in an incomparable setting”.
This lunch in the oratory of Crestatx replaces the traditional pilgrimages that the poblers and pobleras make after Easter and that, from the residence, we try every year to adapt to the specific needs of the dependent people of the centre.
