The Minister of Health, Mónica García, has officially presented her candidacy to the Executive Board of the WHO-Europe in Geneva, on the day before the start of the World Health Assembly, the WHO’s decision-making body.

Mónica García was sponsored by Pau Gasol and accompanied by a large group of representatives from different World Health Organisation delegations.
In her speech, the minister stressed that “this is a definitive step that underlines Spain’s firm commitment to global health, and on a personal level, an incentive to continue developing policies that have the citizen at their centre”.
With the ever-present principles of universality, equity and quality as our guide, he said, we want to strengthen primary care, which was weakened after the pandemic, and focus on mental health, social determinants and climate change because “there cannot be healthy people on a sick planet”.
“Primary Care is the heart of the National Health System, and our professionals are the core of that heart”. In the wake of the challenges presented by the pandemic, the minister said, there is a need to
