Abaqua tenders the works for the extension and improvement of the Felanitx wastewater treatment plant

This improvement of the infrastructure is necessary to provide adequate treatment of the municipality’s wastewater, achieving the required effluent quality and the capacity to treat surpluses during periods of peak flows due to rainfall.

The Balearic Water and Environmental Quality Agency (Abaqua) has put out to tender the works to extend and improve treatment at the Felanitx wastewater treatment plant for 5,412,252.04 euros. These works will enable the system to adapt to the new needs of the connected urban centres and extend the useful life of the infrastructures.

Abaqua

The current capacity of the sewage and treatment facilities managed by Abaqua has proved insufficient due to the increase in the municipality’s population. In order to guarantee the proper functioning of the Felanitx Wastewater Treatment Plant, treatment improvement works will be carried out, included in the drafted project.

This improvement and extension of the infrastructure is necessary to provide adequate treatment for the wastewater of the municipality of Felanitx, achieving the required effluent quality and the capacity to treat surpluses during periods of peak flows due to rainfall. It will also minimise electricity consumption by optimising processes and guarantee efficient operation of the system.

The contract budget for the works to extend and improve treatment at the Felanitx WWTP is 5,412,252.04 € VAT included, partially financed by European ERDF funds. Once the works have been contracted, a period of fourteen months is foreseen for their execution.
