The grant to finance the Agenda 2030 Awards for Social Transformation

The Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Directorate General for Coordination, has participated in the meetings convened by the Government of Spain. It has collaborated with the High Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda, informed him and participated in the sectoral conferences, the progress reports and the sustainable development strategy. The purpose of these awards is to effectively achieve the implementation of the Balearic 2030 Agenda, given that the UIB is the only public university in the Balearic Islands, and it is clear that rewarding Master’s and Bachelor’s degree final projects, as well as encouraging the active participation of research teaching staff (PDI) and administration and services staff (PAS) helps to achieve this objective.

The previous awards were held in December 2023. The call for entries for the Agenda 2030 Awards for 2024, aimed at the groups of PTGAS and PDI, is now open and projects can be submitted until 27 May. The Agenda 2030 Awards for TFG, TFM and doctoral theses are scheduled to open in September 2024. For 2024, three categories will continue to be established: Bachelor’s thesis (TFG), Master’s thesis (TFM) and doctoral thesis. There is a total budget of 9,000 euros, so the following prizes will be awarded for each of the three categories:

1st prize: a cash prize of 1,500 euros
2nd prize: a cash prize of 1.000 euros
3rd prize: a cash prize of 500 euros.
On the other hand, the call for the Agenda 2030 Awards aimed at the UIB’s administrative and services staff (PAS) and research teaching staff (PDI) aims to encourage the active participation of the research teaching staff (PDI) and administrative and services staff (PAS). This is done by awarding prizes in two different categories: one for projects led by PDI linked to faculties, schools, centres, departments, research institutes or others (research groups, laboratories, observatories, etc.); and another for projects led by PAS linked to services, offices, units or other structures of the UIB about the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda within university life.

A total budget of 16,000 euros is established and distributed as follows so that the economic allocations must be allocated to the implementation of the projects presented in each category:

Category I. Projects led by teaching and research staff (PDI)

1st prize: a cash prize of 4.000 euros
2nd prize: prize money of 2,500 euros
3rd prize: a cash prize of 1,500 euros.
Category II. Projects led by administrative and services staff (PAS)

1st prize: a cash prize of 4,000 euros
2nd prize: a cash prize of 2,500 euros
3rd prize: a cash prize of 1,500 euros
