Comerç i Escola presents an educational proposal based on several coordinated actions. Firstly, there is a guided tour of the town’s shops, during which the pupils also learn about the different trades carried out by the traders. The tour includes not only traditional businesses but also the most innovative shops in the town.

Moreover, the pupils in the classroom have educational material prepared by the IDI that allows the children to work with the different types of shops, always relating them to those in their locality, as well as making them aware of the importance of knowing the range of possibilities offered by local commerce.

The Comerç i Escola proposal is open-ended, as it is up to the teachers and the municipality to manage the material and define the activities according to the characteristics of the locality. These actions can also be complemented with other proposals such as drawing competitions, talks in the classrooms by shopkeepers, or the promotion of fair and responsible trade.

Primary school pupils from different schools have visited various types of shops such as butchers, bakeries and pastry shops, haberdasheries, food shops, hardware stores, printing shops, etc.

In total, since the Comerç i Escola programme was launched in the 2017-2018 school year, material has been distributed to 8,220 pupils in 148 schools in 34 municipalities in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
