The digital training courses will be extended to all adult education centres, and the Regional Ministry will promote professional certifications.

The lifelong learning course for adults in the Balearic Islands began today with 18 adult education centres (CEPA) and 3 secondary schools (IES) offering these courses. This year, 8,000 students have enrolled in these centres, a figure representing an increase over the 6,250 students from last year. Enrolment is still open until 30 September, and next February a new call for enrolment will open for adult education courses.

As for the teaching staff, 356 teachers will be teaching this year, which represents an increase compared to the 325 teachers of the previous year, in order to meet the growing demand for training.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities offers a diversified training offer in the centres for adults; thus, the CEPAs not only offer the possibility of obtaining the compulsory secondary education diploma but also allow preparation for the entrance exams to training cycles or university, prepare for free ESO or Catalan exams, study various foreign languages, learn Catalan and Spanish, study computer science and take intermediate and advanced vocational training courses.

New features of the course: digital training and professional certificates

One of the main new features of this academic year is the expansion of digital training courses, an action funded by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport, and by the European Union -NextGenerationEU-, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Mechanism. Last year, 29 digital classrooms were created in different schools and this year, 6 more secondary schools have joined the programme. Those enrolled in these courses will obtain an official certification in digital competencies.
