The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has launched an ambitious training initiative to enhance digital and sustainability skills in the transport and mobility sectors, benefiting over 4,800 students. With an investment exceeding €16 million from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the goal is to strengthen digitalisation across the industry, modernise SMEs, and boost productivity and competitiveness.

The initiative includes two main programmes:

  • University Subsidy Programme, which has allocated €7.2 million to 16 universities to develop more than 40 training activities across 120 editions. Over 3,000 students have completed these courses, some of which offer up to 60 ECTS credits.
  • Digital Skills Voucher for Transport, providing nearly €9 million in grants to 8,900 students. Around 2,000 have already completed their training, and 2,300 more applications are pending.

Both programmes target students, job seekers, and professionals currently working in the sector, with the expectation that more than 7,000 people will have completed their training by December 2025. The Ministry highlights that digitalisation, representing over 6 % of Spain’s GDP, is key to improving productivity, internationalisation, and innovation in the transport industry.
