The gardens of the Centre Cultural de La Misericòrdia were transformed into a festive setting this Saturday with a new edition of the Living Nativity Scene, an event that brought together more than one hundred participants and welcomed large numbers of visitors throughout the day.
Revived by the Consell de Mallorca two years ago, the event expanded its layout this year to include one of the venue’s most iconic spots, the large ficus tree. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Vice President and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca.

A Living Nativity brings Mallorcan tradition to La Misericòrdia
The programme featured a wide range of traditional and emotional moments, including several appearances by the Three Wise Men, the chanting of the Sibyl, and a Christmas carol concert performed by the Children’s Choir of the Teatre Principal de Palma.
Visitors were able to stroll through the gardens and discover craft stalls, traditional Mallorcan food, and scenes depicting old rural trades such as seamstresses, fishermen and shepherds. The atmosphere was enhanced by the presence of farm animals, adding authenticity to the live performance.
The Living Nativity is part of the Christmas programme at La Misericòrdia, which runs from December 6 to January 5 and also includes charity initiatives focused on collecting food and toys.
