The regional government has approved a new edition of the programme “SOIB Employment Opportunities for Qualified Young People in Local Entities,” which allocates a total of €12 million over two years. The initiative will enable municipalities, island administrations and other local bodies to hire young people with university degrees or vocational training, offering them a valuable first step in their professional careers within the public sector.
The programme will be managed by the SOIB and co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the Sectoral Conference on Employment. Funding will be divided equally between the two years: €6 million for 2026 and €6 million for 2027.

A key feature of this call is the introduction of advance payments without requiring financial guarantees. Local entities will receive 60% of the aid upon approval and the remaining 40% during the first half of the following year. This mechanism ensures immediate access to resources, speeding up recruitment and allowing young professionals to start their roles without delays.
This long-standing programme aims to improve youth employability, strengthen local public services with specialised talent and provide young graduates with high-quality professional experience. Through this initiative, the government seeks to retain skilled workers, create meaningful job opportunities and better connect academic training with the labour market.
