The Consell de Mallorca has announced the creation of two scholarships that will enable young residents of the island to take part in Ruta Inti 2026, an educational and cultural expedition that, under the theme “Echoes of the Himalayas,” will travel across Nepal from 14 July to 7 August.
This edition marks a milestone in the twelve-year history of the project, as it will be the first time the expedition ventures into Asia. With this, Ruta Inti becomes the first academic expedition to have travelled through four continents.
Ruta Inti is an international programme aimed at young people aged 18 to 25, combining adventure, training and coexistence during a 28-day journey with more than 120 participants. Each edition follows a storyline that guides the experience and seeks to provide participants with tools for personal growth, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and values such as quality education, equality and sustainability.

Mallorca will offer two scholarships enabling young residents of the island to take part in Ruta Inti 2026
The 2026 expedition is structured into three stages that will immerse participants in Nepal’s cultural and geographical diversity—a country shaped by the historical convergence of Indian and Tibetan worlds. The route includes the Kathmandu Valley, Gorkha, Pokhara, Kagbeni, Muktinath, Marpha, Chitwan National Park and Lumbini, birthplace of Buddha. Through trekking, interaction with local communities and a dedicated academic programme, participants will explore how Nepal has woven together its plurality into a shared national identity.
The Consell de Mallorca scholarships will cover the programme’s tuition fee and are part of the institution’s collaboration with Ruta Inti to make the project more accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds.
