The President of the Balearic Islands Government, Margalida Prohens, took part in a minute of silence held at the Consolat de Mar in Palma as an institutional gesture of solidarity with the victims, injured passengers, and families affected by the serious train accident in Adamuz, Córdoba.
The event, organised by the Balearic Government, aimed to express collective mourning and support for the people of Spain, following a tragedy that has left 39 people dead and more than 150 injured, according to preliminary official figures.
After the ceremony, Prohens emphasised the importance of standing by the grieving families, while wishing a swift recovery to all those receiving medical treatment. She also stressed the need for a full clarification of the events that led to the accident.

Balearic Government President joins national mourning after the Adamuz train disaster
Shortly after learning of the incident, the Balearic president contacted Juan Manuel Moreno, head of the Andalusian regional government, to offer institutional support and cooperation.
She also expressed her gratitude to emergency responders, security forces, and healthcare professionals, highlighting their dedication and rapid response in assisting victims and relatives.
As a sign of respect, Prohens cancelled her official schedule for two consecutive days.
Several civil and military authorities attended the event, including Palma Mayor Jaime Martínez, Balearic Parliament Speaker Gabriel Le-Senne, and Spanish Congress Speaker Francina Armengol.
