A total of 42 wineries from the Balearic Islands, four more than last year, are taking part in Barcelona Wine Week 2026, one of Europe’s leading professional wine fairs and the most important event of its kind in Spain. Most Balearic wineries are exhibiting under the institutional umbrella of the regional government, with 38 wineries sharing a dedicated space along with a joint stand for the regulatory councils, funded by the Conselleria of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment at over 90 %. A further four wineries are participating independently in different areas of the exhibition hall.
The Balearic Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, attended the opening of the fair together with the Director General for Agri-food Quality and Local Product, Joan Llabrés. He emphasised that the event is a key platform for strengthening the international visibility of Balearic wines, highlighting the commitment to local products, native grape varieties and high-quality wines that are unique to the islands and closely linked to their territory and sustainable practices.

42 wineries from the Balearic Islands strengthen the international presence of Balearic wines at Barcelona Wine Week 2026
During the opening day, Spain’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, visited the stands of the Balearic wineries and appellations, expressing his support for the sector and reaffirming the government’s willingness to continue working alongside wine producers. The strong Balearic presence at the fair has been described as clear evidence of the sector’s vitality and the diversity of winemaking projects currently underway across the islands.
Joint participation in Barcelona Wine Week enables Balearic wineries to enhance their commercial positioning and establish new relationships with distributors, importers and industry professionals from Spain and abroad. This promotional effort coincides with a positive trend in quality wine production in the Balearic Islands, which reached 55,126 hectolitres in 2025, representing a 3.5 % increase compared to the previous year, driven in particular by growth in wines classified as “Vino de la Tierra” and by significant increases in islands such as Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
