The President of the Consell of Mallorca has visited the refurbishment works of AMADIBA’s future facility in Binissalem, a project included in the Disability Housing Access Plan that will provide 10 new publicly funded places for people with intellectual disabilities and behavioural support needs.
This new resource is part of the island-wide strategy to strengthen the supported housing network and to facilitate access to adapted, stable and safe homes for people with disabilities, a group that often faces significant barriers to housing due to accessibility limitations, lack of resources and the need for continuous support.
During the institutional visit, the President underlined the Consell’s strong commitment to activating resources and collaborating with specialised organisations, despite not holding primary housing powers, to guarantee high-quality residential projects that promote autonomy, protection and long-term stability for people with disabilities and their families.
The Binissalem project represents the first phase of a broader initiative that will later include the construction and operation of a residential home and a day care centre, consolidating a care model focused on independent living, personalised support and community integration.

Mallorca Advances a New AMADIBA Residential Facility in Binissalem under the Disability Housing Access Plan
Within this framework, the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials will allocate €3.7 million this year to expand the supported housing network, enabling the creation of 137 new places for people with disabilities. This investment forms part of a nearly 40% budget increase during the current legislative period, aimed at improving service quality, strengthening collaboration with social entities and expanding available support resources.
At present, cooperation between IMAS and AMADIBA provides close to 400 places across a wide range of services, including day centres, residential care, supervised housing, guardianship services and specialised residential support for children and adolescents with disabilities and high educational support needs, reinforcing a robust, specialised and community-based care network.
