The Consell de Mallorca will commemorate World Poetry Day 2026 on March 20 with an institutional program in Santanyí focused on the figure of Blai Bonet. Through the Fundació Mallorca Literària, the event will feature a poetic route through the town and the افتتاح of the exhibition “Hell is the Mold” at the Casa Blai Bonet. This initiative officially launches the Year of Blai Bonet, marking the centenary of the poet’s birth.

This program reinforces Mallorca’s positioning as a cultural and literary destination, highlighting the value of its poetic heritage. The Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, emphasized the importance of the celebration as a meeting point around language and as the starting point of a year dedicated to the author. She also highlighted Blai Bonet’s legacy as a key figure in contemporary Mallorcan literature.

The schedule will begin at 6:00 PM with the literary route “Blai, Wake Up!”, which will pass through significant locations in Santanyí and include live readings by prominent poets. This itinerary provides an immersive cultural experience that connects the local landscape with literary expression, including a commemorative reading dedicated to influential poetic figures.

The day will conclude at the Casa Blai Bonet. Poetry Center, where the exhibition “Hell is the Mold” will open at 8:00 PM. The exhibition showcases a selection of visual works by the poet, highlighting a lesser-known yet essential dimension of his creative output. The event will close with a musical session that blends literary atmosphere with a contemporary cultural approach.

Additionally, the Fundació Mallorca Literària has introduced the WoW Routes 2026 program, featuring fourteen literary itineraries across Mallorca throughout the year. This initiative promotes cultural tourism by combining landscape, heritage, and literature through guided, dramatized, and musical experiences. The program includes tributes to major literary figures and strengthens Mallorca’s cultural offering as an immersive and participatory experience.
