Jonás Souto named Best Athlete 2025 at the Consell d’Eivissa Sports Awards

Athlete Jonás Souto Comino has been named Best Athlete 2025 at the Consell d’Eivissa Sports Awards, held on April 23 at Cine Regio in Sant Antoni. The jury highlighted his outstanding achievements in billiards at both national and international level, including Spanish championship titles in 8-ball and 9-ball, as well as strong performances in international competitions.

The event also recognized the contribution of key figures and organizations supporting sport on the island. Trasmapi was awarded best sponsoring entity for its continued support of clubs and athletes. Sasha Roig Squire received the award for best individual of the year in recognition of her role in sports management and the development of multiple disciplines in Eivissa and Formentera.

Jonás Souto named Best Athlete 2025 at the Consell d’Eivissa Sports Awards

In team and institutional categories, the Basketball Delegation was named best federation delegation for its work in grassroots development and training. Club Deportivo San Pablo was awarded best sports team, while Club Atletisme Sa Raval was recognized as best club, coinciding with its 25th anniversary and a successful season at national and international level.

Special mentions were also granted, including a posthumous recognition of Pere Ribes Planells for his career and contribution, as well as Paco Yeste for decades of dedication to sports training. The Football Federation of the Balearic Islands was acknowledged on its centenary, alongside the Association for Adapted Sports of Eivissa and Formentera for its role in promoting inclusive sport.

Awards were presented to the best athletes in each federation across a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, cycling, swimming, sailing, volleyball and water polo. As a new addition, awards for best school-age athletes were introduced, going to Sofía García Tur and Álvaro González Marí, both in badminton.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of sport as a key social driver on the island, emphasizing values such as commitment, perseverance and respect, as well as the ongoing institutional support aimed at strengthening the development of sport in Eivissa.
