The Consell de Mallorca has officially appointed Tommy Ferragut as the new Island Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, as well as Managing Director of the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation. The appointment, published in the official gazette, signals a strategic step towards strengthening Mallorca’s positioning as a responsible and sustainable tourist destination.

Ferragut replaces Marco Taboas, who is leaving the public sector to pursue new professional opportunities in the private domain. This transition comes at a key moment for the island’s tourism sector, where sustainable growth and quality-driven strategies are increasingly prioritised.

With a solid background in protocol, institutional communication and event management, Ferragut brings extensive expertise supported by specialised training in corporate relations, management, marketing and communication. His professional career includes roles within public institutions such as Palma City Council, the Parliament of the Balearic Islands and the Mallorca Council, where he has contributed to institutional event planning and local product promotion initiatives.

In addition, his experience in tourism-related communication and training provides a comprehensive strategic perspective focused on destination branding and demand management. This profile aligns with current priorities in advancing responsible tourism policies and enhancing visitor experience.

The Councillor for Tourism, Guillem Ginard, emphasised that Ferragut’s appointment will ensure continuity in ongoing policies while enabling the development of new initiatives aimed at reinforcing Mallorca’s competitiveness as a leading destination. He also expressed appreciation for the work carried out by Marco Taboas during his tenure.
