Ibiza’s public transport system will increase bus service frequencies by more than 53% from May compared to April, aiming to significantly improve connectivity across the network and respond to rising demand. This expansion represents a substantial upgrade in both service capacity and quality, reinforcing public transport as a key mobility option on the island.
Recent figures already show a 9% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year, confirming a growing trend in bus usage. This rise is supported in part by the continued free travel scheme for users holding a transport card, simplifying access without requiring additional procedures.
The improvements will impact most routes, with major changes focused on key corridors. The T1 line, linking Sant Antoni, Sant Rafel and Ibiza town, will double its services and operate every 15 minutes. Other strategic routes will also expand their schedules and daily trips to accommodate increased travel needs.
Ibiza boosts bus service by over 53% to enhance mobility from May
In the northern part of the island, connections between areas such as Santa Eulària, Sant Carles and Portinatx will be significantly enhanced. Meanwhile, in the west, seasonal beach routes will be activated and reinforced, improving access to coastal destinations and promoting more sustainable transport during peak season.
Airport connectivity will also be strengthened, with increased frequencies on existing lines and the introduction of a new route linking key urban areas to the airport. These measures address the growing demand linked to tourism and seasonal travel.
Additionally, recent adjustments have been implemented to reinforce early morning services on high-demand routes, ensuring better coverage for commuters and regular users. This comprehensive approach enhances service reliability and user experience.
Through this broad upgrade, Ibiza’s public transport system moves towards a more efficient, accessible and sustainable model, aligned with current mobility needs and the steady growth in passenger demand.
