Mallorca will officially launch its first Water Bike Circuit on 14 June with an innovative sporting initiative that combines cycling and water-based activity in an event open to participants of different ages and skill levels. The inaugural competition will take place at Parc de la Mar in Palma and will mark the beginning of a project expected to include several sporting events throughout 2026.

The initiative aims to promote a new sports discipline on the island based on the use of water bicycles, combining cardiovascular exercise, balance and aquatic skills. The circuit will feature several competition categories adapted to different age groups and experience levels, encouraging family participation and intergenerational sporting activity.

The programme will include master, adult, cadet, children’s and promotional categories, allowing participation from individuals aged 12 and over or with a minimum height of 1.50 metres. Competitors will complete a marked course on the water in the shortest possible time.

The official presentation of the project was held at Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita with the participation of institutional representatives and the sports federations collaborating in the initiative. The event also included a practical workshop within the “Súma’t” programme involving around one hundred school students, who had the opportunity to discover how water bikes work and take part in aquatic sporting activities.

The presentation further featured demonstration sessions by invited athletes, showcasing the potential of this emerging sports discipline, which aims to establish itself as an innovative addition to Mallorca’s sporting and recreational offer.

This new activity combines physical exercise, leisure and direct contact with the natural environment, promoting healthy lifestyles and sustainable use of the island’s aquatic spaces. Beyond the competitive aspect, the project also focuses on wellbeing, physical conditioning and active mobility.

The organisers plan to progressively expand the areas dedicated to these aquatic activities, strengthening Mallorca’s commitment to new sea-based sporting experiences designed for participants of all ages and profiles.
