The Balearic island will receive 63.88% of the territorially allocated funds under the annual ITS plan, with investment covering heritage conservation, water infrastructure and municipal improvements across 13 municipalities.

Mallorca has been allocated €113.8 million from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) to fund 33 projects during 2026 and 2027. The programme includes initiatives managed by the Consell de Mallorca and local councils, covering the restoration of historic sites, water management, environmental conservation and improvements to public infrastructure.

Under the 2026–2027 Annual ITS Plan, Mallorca accounts for 63.88% of the funding distributed geographically among the islands. This figure excludes region-wide initiatives, including measures addressing illegal tourist accommodation, unauthorised tourism activity and responsible tourism.

Seven of the projects fall under the Consell de Mallorca, while 26 are assigned to municipalities across the island. A further 17 regional initiatives may also benefit Mallorca, particularly in areas including biodiversity, sustainable mobility, water resources and tourism quality.

Mallorca allocated €113.8 million in Sustainable Tourism Tax funding for 33 projects in 2026–2027. Historic buildings and the Serra de Tramuntana feature in the investment programme

The projects managed by the Consell de Mallorca focus largely on preserving cultural and architectural heritage, maintaining traditional landscapes and improving access to information about natural and historic sites.

In Sóller, €1.4 million has been allocated to work at the Fàbrica Nova. More than €1.5 million will go towards the restoration of the early Christian archaeological site of Son Fadrinet in Campos.

Another €1.5 million is earmarked for the restoration and refurbishment of the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad.

The Serra de Tramuntana will also receive funding through the GEORUTAS initiative, which has been allocated more than €1.3 million to continue the digitalisation of heritage routes. The project aims to improve how visitors and residents can explore and understand the area’s heritage.

Other initiatives include drafting plans for two homes in the GESA settlement in Aucanada and an investment of €1.8 million in the active management and conservation of the Serra de Tramuntana’s traditional mosaic landscape.

Water supply and urban infrastructure projects across 13 municipalities

The 26 municipal projects are distributed across Alaró, Calviá, Estellencs, Montuïri, Muro, Palma, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Santa Margalida, Selva, Ses Salines, Son Servera, Vilafranca de Bonany and Llucmajor.

Water supply, sewage networks and improvements to local infrastructure account for a significant part of the planned work.

In Alaró, the funding will support the renewal of water networks and hydraulic services along Petit and Alexandre streets. In Playa de Muro, water supply and sewage infrastructure will be upgraded in the ses Fotges area.

Selva will receive investment to replace water networks in Nobleza and sa Creu streets. Son Servera, meanwhile, plans to introduce remotely readable water meters throughout the municipality to improve water management efficiency.

In Santa Margalida, a project in Son Bauló will combine the modernisation of the integrated water system with sustainable urban improvements.

Vilafranca de Bonany will install a drinking-water treatment station and a separate facility designed to remove nitrates from waste produced by a reverse-osmosis treatment plant.

The municipal programme also provides for sustainable urban renewal projects in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and Colonia de Sant Jordi, in the municipality of Ses Salines. These schemes include improvements to streets and public services.

The 2026–2027 Sustainable Tourism Tax allocation will therefore finance projects involving municipal infrastructure, historic preservation and environmental management in different parts of Mallorca.
