The Balearic Islands Supercomputing and Artificial Intelligence Centre (BSAI) has presented its computing services and access procedures during an event at the ParcBit Auditorium. Held on Thursday, the session focused on how businesses, organisations and research institutions can use the TalaIA supercomputer for scientific research, technological development and artificial intelligence projects.
Officially launched last July at the Balearic Research Complex in ParcBit, the BSAI is a flagship centre of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Its governance is shared with the Government of the Balearic Islands through the Directorate-General for Innovation and Digital Transformation.
The centre operates TalaIA, the first supercomputer in the Balearic Islands. Its services cover high-performance computing, large-scale data processing and artificial intelligence applications, supporting both scientific research and projects undertaken by the business sector.
Sebastián González, Director-General for Innovation and Digital Transformation, opened the event. Alberto Ortiz, Director of the BSAI, and Xavier Nadal Coll, Head of the Technical Analysis Department, also took part in the presentation.
The session addressed the technical capabilities available through the centre and the administrative arrangements for organisations seeking access to its computing infrastructure.

Balearic Islands Supercomputing and Artificial Intelligence Centre outlines access to its technology at ParcBit
A new institutional cooperation framework involves the chambers of commerce of Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza and Formentera. These organisations will provide businesses with a direct channel to pursue research, innovation and technological development projects using the available resources.
Companies wishing to access the services must submit an application through the channels established by the Government of the Balearic Islands and provide the required proof of affiliation.
The application procedure has been designed to provide transparent and traceable processing. Businesses, other organisations and research centres will be able to request access to this Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) for projects involving innovation and artificial intelligence.
