98.3 per cent of 3-year olds obtain a place in one of their first or second choice schools.
The percentage of students obtaining a place in their first-choice schools is consolidated.
Increase of 2 points in the percentage of 3-year students entering Mallorca in the first choice centre
91% of the procedures have been carried out telematically compared to 89.68% last year.
Once the schooling process for the academic year 2021/22 has been completed, this year a total of 13,662 applications have been submitted for all educational levels (2 less than last year), of which 8,985 correspond to 3-year-olds (158 less than last year).
As for the three-year-olds, which is the bulk of the students involved in the process, 8,837 (98.3%) got right some of the options they chose as their first or second choice, one point higher than last year, and 8,400 (93.5%) got right some of the options they chose as their first choice (last year 92.2).
Of the total number of places requested, 11,778 (86.2%) obtained a place in their first or second choice centre, an increase of 3.5 points over last year, and 10,907 (76.5%) obtained a place in their first choice centre, an increase of 3.3 points over last year. The latter is the highest percentage in recent years.
By islands, the percentage of 3-year students who got the place they applied for in their first choice is:
Mallorca: 7,000 places applied for (7,197 last year) and 6,623 in the first choice centre (6,621 last year). Therefore, this year 94.6% have reached a square in the first choice centre. Last year it was 92%.
Ibiza: 1,204 applied (1,162 places last year) and 1,077 have obtained a place in the centre of first choice (1,054 places last year). Thus, this year 89.45% have obtained a place in their first choice centre. Last year it was 90.7%.
Formentera: 77 places requested (80 places last year) and 71 have reached a place in the centre of first choice (80 last year). So this year 92.2% have a place in the centre of the first choice. Last year it was 100%.
Menorca: 704 places applied for (the same as last year) and 629 have reached a place in the first choice centre (676, last year). Therefore, this year 89.3% have reached a square in the first choice centre. Last year it was 96.02%.
Balearic Islands total: 8,985 places requested (9,143 last year) and 8,400 have reached a place in the centre of the first choice (8,431 last year). Thus, this year 93.49% have reached a square in the first choice centre. Last year it was 92.21%.
Last year, on the occasion of the declaration of the state of alarm, the school processes were modified, recommending that the procedures be carried out electronically. This recommendation has been maintained in the 2021 process.
Once the process is completed, it has been found that around 91% of applications have been made through telematics and, in the case of fourth-year students (three years), 91.94%.
Despite the novelty of the system, it should be noted the low number of excluded applications, only 5, representing 0.06% of the total.
In the EI-EP-ESO admission process, there have been 111 applications that have provided certificates and medical reports to obtain the score for this criterion, of which the joint Education – Health committee, once the documentation has been reviewed, decided that it was appropriate to award the score to 60 to meet the conditions indicated in the regulations.
