Tender: cleaning and maintenance service

The Consell Insular de Menorca, through the Department of Culture, Education, Youth and Sports, has published the tender for the service contract for the cleaning, maintenance and installation of information panels at historical heritage sites on the island of Menorca. The ultimate goal is to maintain the network of monuments in the best conditions for public visits.

The estimated value of the contract is 581,803.20 euros. Interested companies or professionals can submit their proposals until 16 January via the State Contracting Platform. The works will have to be organised in such a way that the most disruptive works are completed before Easter and that during the summer the works are only for maintenance.

The actions that constitute the object of the contract are:

  • Cleaning and control of grass and shrub vegetation on archaeological sites, access roads and car parks.
  • Control of events, vandalism, despoilment, demolition of walls, etc., or any other unforeseen event affecting the property.
  • Collection of rubbish and manure left by visitors or the general public, both in the litter bins installed and around the property.
  • Restitution and selective restoration of stones that have fallen due to natural causes or vandalism.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of the explanatory panels installed at the sites.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of litter bins and road signs and installation of new litter bins and signs, in accordance with the indications of the contract manager.
  • Renewal or restitution of vinyl of the panels damaged by anthropic or climatic causes according to the model and design annexed to the contract.
  • Annual bleaching and maintenance without vegetation of the donkey’s back of the walls surrounding the sites of Trebaluger, Son Mercer de Baix, Cala Morell (necropolis), Western Biniac, Torre del Ramo, Son Bou, Toraixa and Son Catlar.
  • Maintain in good condition the barriers with an anti-theft system at the sites of Cala Morell (necropolis), Torre del Ramo, Biniac occidental, Basilica de Son Bou, Trebalu’ger, Son Mercer de Baix, Son Catlar and Sant Agusti’.
  • Supervised and controlled by an archaeologist of the work to be carried out on the monuments.
  • When necessary, a restorer specialising in historical and archaeological heritage will also intervene.
