The Government of the Balearic Islands is concerned about the possible privatisation of the Palma airport control tower and the future of its workers.

The privatisation of the control tower at Palma airport

In this regard, the Ministry of Mobility and Housing, through the Directorate General of Maritime and Air Transport, has already initiated contacts with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda to inform the Government of each and every one of the actions to be carried out in relation to this process. The Government has also expressed its concern regarding the consequences that may arise.

From the labour point of view, it expresses its concern about the situation of the current 55 employees of the control tower, especially in the event that the subrogation with the new provider does not take place, as occurred in similar processes.
