Tourist rentals

The Government Spokesman and Minister of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela, and the Regional Minister of Finance and External Relations, Rosario Sánchez, will visit Brussels this Tuesday where they will meet (10 am) with Valentina Superti, Director of Tourism and Digitalisation at the Directorate-General for the Internal Market (DG GROW). At the meeting, they will discuss the regulation to make the offer of digital platforms dedicated to tourist rental activity more transparent.

The main objective of this instrument is to streamline the exchange of data between member states and improve the identification of hosts who rent their homes through these platforms.

Later (11.30 a.m.), the councillors will explain the Executive’s position on this issue to Marie Audren, Director General of HOTREC (European Association of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Cafés), and Matej Zezlin, Head of Public Affairs at HOTREC.

On the other hand, both will attend (12.30h) the opening of the exhibition “Invisible though exposed. The fight for labour rights of hotel cleaning workers in the Balearic Islands”, organised by MEP Alícia Homs. Minutes before the event, Sánchez and Negueruela will meet with the media.

The official visit will end with a meeting with MEPs Josianne Cutajar, Adriana Maldonado and Alícia Homs (16:00).
