The programme shows how the same idea – the orchestral portrait of a storm – has inspired composers from different musical periods: Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Impressionism and the 20th century. The audience will participate, creating their own sound storm, and will see how the storm gods of different cultures and civilisations will help the musicians to survive the meteorological adversity.

The Symphony will perform excerpts from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, Vivaldi’s “Summer”, Rossini’s William Tell, Debussy’s La mer, Britten’s Peter Grimes and Strauss’ Under Thunder and Lightning.

In addition to the family concert, the OSIB will offer three school performances of this show: on the 21st of March, at 11 am, and the 22nd of March, at 10 am and 11:30 am. Some twenty schools in Mallorca and a total of approximately 1,800 children will enjoy the show.

Storm FX is part of the OSIB’s “Educa” programme aimed at students and families. The main objectives are to bring musical content closer to children, to promote musical education among young people, to deepen musical knowledge and to facilitate attendance at a concert in order to generate synergies with society.
