Mallorca has been nominated in five categories of the World Travel Awards, internationally recognised awards focused on the travel and tourism sector. The awards are presented annually and cover a range of categories including hotels, tourist attractions, airlines, transport and other complementary services.

The five categories in which Mallorca has been nominated are Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination (for Palma); Europe’s Leading Beach Destination; Europe’s Leading Island Destination; Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination; and Europe’s Leading New Resort.

These nominations demonstrate the international recognition of the island’s tourism sector and confirm that Mallorca continues to be a European and world reference in terms of tourism and that it has consolidated its position as a leader in sustainable tourism. The World Travel Awards will be presented on 30 September in the city of Batumi, Georgia. Last year, the European Awards gala took place in Mallorca, at the Mallorca Hilton Galatzó Hotel.

Since 1993, the awards have recognised and rewarded excellence in all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Awards brand is recognised worldwide as the definitive hallmark of excellence in the industry, influencing key decision-makers, representatives, influencers and the media.
