\ Mediation between students is a preventive tool that has been used in many schools in the Balearic Islands for years.

The territorial director of Education in Menorca, Joan Marqués, accompanied by the director of the Institute for Coexistence and School Success, Convivèxit, Aina Amengual, participated today in the meeting of students promoting coexistence and well-being that was held in Menorca, at the auditorium in Ferreries.

Mediation between students is a preventive tool that has been in use in many schools in the Balearic Islands for years. The intention of the Institute for Coexistence and School Success is to promote this tool and other restorative practices that improve coexistence and prevent violence.

During the course of the day, different workshops were held and the presentation of diplomas to the participating students brought this meeting on the island of Menorca to a close. The different activities programmed serve to share and reflect on the initiatives promoted by these students in the centres.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, through the Institute for Coexistence and School Success, Convivèxit, has organised the Meetings of students promoting coexistence and well-being 2023 with the aim of making public the gratitude in the involvement of these students in the task of mediation, sharing experiences, creating networks of collaboration between schools, as well as facilitating contact between mediators.

A total of 108 students and 12 teachers from 6 schools in Menorca participated: CEIPs: Joan Benejam (Ciutadella), Antoni Joan Alemany (Maó), Sa Graduada (Maó), Mare de Deu del Carme (Maó) and IES: Josep Maria Quadrado (Ciutadella) and Cap de Llevant (Maó).

This day has counted with the collaboration of the Town Council of Ferreries, which has lent the auditorium for the celebration of this day and the participation of the Unit against Violence against Women of Menorca with its representative Juan Manuel Gil. This entity has given a gift to the participating students.

The first conference was held on the 2nd of May in Mallorca, on the 26th of May it was held in Ibiza and today, the conference closes on the island of Menorca.
