Both sales and employment in the retail trade in the Balearic Islands have now risen for fourteen consecutive months.

According to data published on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Balearic Islands is the autonomous community that recorded the highest increase in retail trade sales during the month of May with an increase of 15.2%. Sales rose an annual rate in all the autonomous communities, with an average variation at the national level of 6.6 % compared to the same month in 2022.

The region also leads the creation of employment in the sector and registers the highest rate of change of employment in retail trade with an increase of 5.7% compared to April last year. This is the highest increase at the national level, with a rate of 1.6%.

These data confirm the economic recovery of the sector in the Balearic Islands, where retail trade sales have not stopped increasing in the last fourteen months.
