Master’s Degree in Responsible Design in Tourism Environments

\ For the first time, collaboration with the 2024 edition of the Mallorca Life Festival is planned.

\ The intention is to work together to create a new way of integrating higher artistic education and vocational training into society and the productive fabric of the Balearic Islands.

The School of Art and Design of the Balearic Islands (EASDIB) is once again offering the Master’s Degree in Responsible Design in Tourist Environments for the next academic year 2023-24. A pioneering master’s degree in art education, which was taught in the Balearic Islands in the 2017-2018 academic year and which was suspended due to COVID-19 and which will be reinstated in the 2023-2024 academic year.

The aim of this master’s degree is to meet the current training needs of different groups of professionals (designers, architects, technical architects…) so that they can respond to different environmental and social requirements in the development of their professional activity. This training meets a real demand derived from a change of the current tourism model to a more environmentally friendly, socially ethical and universally accessible one.

For all those interested, the pre-registration period will open on 3 July and will remain open until 16 July. A second pre-registration period is also planned from 11 to 24 September.

The master’s degree focuses on the design of spaces and environments, information goods and services and graphic communication to improve human well-being, through social design, sustainable design and design for all. The master’s degree, with 60 ECTS credits, will be blended. The syllabus is designed with five modules: the first and second are analytical in nature and the remaining three are executive in nature.

The modules are:

  • Typologies of tourist areas and casuistic factors.
  • Criteria for intervention in tourist spaces.
  • The interior space.
  • The exterior space.
  • Master’s thesis.

This Master’s Degree collaborates for the first time with the Mallorca Life Festival.

For the first time, the School of Art and Design of the Balearic Islands (EASDIB) will collaborate for the 2024 edition of the Mallorca Life Festival through the Master’s Degree in Responsible Design in Tourist Environments, a collaboration that will not only make this Master’s Degree offered at the EASDIB more visible but will also show in situ what sustainable design is all about.

The aim of this process is to create a new way of integrating higher artistic education and vocational training into society and, consequently, into the productive fabric of the Balearic Islands.

The Mallorca Live Festival is a music festival with an eclectic spirit that takes place between the months of May and June in Calvià, the municipality where it has become consolidated. This musical event has become a major driving force in the cultural sector, an ambassador for the Balearic Islands and a promoter of the Mallorca brand and festival tourism. Given its international growth, Mallorca Live Festival already has outstanding recognition at the European level within the festival circuit.
