An agreement for the promotion of Olympic values and active and healthy living

The agreement was signed at the Ministry’s headquarters by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, and the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco.

With the signing of this document, both parties undertake to programme plans and develop actions in relation to three fundamental areas: the creation of educational materials, teacher training and the promotion of activities to encourage sport in schools.

In this way, the Spanish Olympic Committee will actively participate in the creation and dissemination of quality educational materials to promote Olympic values; the development of training actions that enable the educational community to include these values, coexistence and active and healthy life in a transversal manner; the design of strategies to promote the practice of physical activity and sport in schools, as a means to prevent health problems; as well as the development of programmes in educational environments to promote Olympic values.

For its part, the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training will collaborate with the COE in the creation and dissemination of quality educational materials to promote Olympic values; it will work on teacher training and capacity building in the areas of Olympism, school coexistence and healthy active lifestyles; and it will encourage healthy leisure and the promotion of these values through the implementation of activities in educational centres.

The collaboration agreement will remain in force for four years and may be extended for a further two years if both parties agree to extend this alliance.
