The Consell de Mallorca

The councillor expressed her firm support for Mallorca’s local produce and her commitment to promoting and strengthening the entire local produce circuit and the island’s local production sectors. She was accompanied by the island’s Director of Economic Promotion and Produce of Mallorca, Álvaro Roca.

During the event, both men defended the so-called short circuit “which brings together the entire value chain of the local product, from its origin to the end consumer” and which boosts the local economy. “The work that we will carry out from our department will be transversal, involving all the affected sectors through activities to stimulate and promote our local produce,” said the councillor.

Pilar Amate stressed that this type of campaign “is a clear example of the line of action that we want to develop from the Consell de Mallorca, which encourages the consumption of local produce, offering fruit, vegetables and other products of excellent quality from our land”.

“We want to value initiatives such as the one that this supermarket chain has been carrying out for years and which has been very well received, both by local producers, our farmers, stockbreeders and fishermen, and by consumers themselves”, he added.

Álvaro Roca, for his part, stressed the importance of supporting local produce by carrying out promotional and publicity campaigns about the “extraordinary quality” of zero-kilometre products.
