Igualdad condemns a new gender violence murder in Malaga

The number of women killed by gender violence in Spain has risen to 29 in 2023 and to 1,213 since 2003.

The latest victim is a 54-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her partner on 20 July. She had no children. There were previous complaints of gender violence against the alleged aggressor.

With the confirmation of this case, the number of women killed by >gender violence in Spain rises to 29 in 2023 and to 1,213 since 2003, when data collection began.

The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, and the Government Delegate for Gender Violence, Victoria Rosell, once again wish to express their absolute condemnation and rejection of this sexist murder and express their full support for the victim’s family and friends. Both the minister and the delegate call for all efforts from the institutions, administrations and society as a whole to arrive in time and prevent further deaths.
