The cultural centre of the Consell de Eivissa ‘Sa Nostra Sala’ hosts from Thursday, August 3 the photographic exhibition of Vicent Ferrer Barbany ‘Eivissa a Contrallum’, an exhibition that compiles several photographs of the city of Eivissa under the abstract and subjective gaze of its author.
The exhibition was presented today at a press conference by the artist himself, Vicent Ferrer Barbany and the island’s director of Culture and Heritage, Miquel Costa. The exhibition, which opens this Thursday at 21:00 hours, will remain open until September 13 from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:30 hours and from 17:30 to 20:30 hours.

The curators of this photographic exhibition, Lina Sansano and Lola Tena, stressed that it is a collection of “unique” images where the author “uses different resources such as superimpositions, transparencies, movements and abstractions” and thus, it is “a real dreamlike journey through the particular look of the reality of Ferrer Barbany of the city of Ibiza”.

For his part, the artist detailed that “with these photographs I wanted to reinterpret everyday life and use movement to capture another reality”. The author has also highlighted some of the techniques he has used as “the superposition of several images, taken at the same time, for transparencies that show the fragility of life or reflections on the glass, which serve as a window and as a screen, resulting in layered images, some are clearer and others give rise to greater confusion.” “Saul Leiter, Lee Friedlander, Robert Frank, Fan Ho, José Manuel Navia or Francesc Català-Roca have been the authors who have served me as a source of inspiration,” concluded Ferrer Barbany.
