Food Bank Foundation

The two have explained to the president of the Government and the counsellor what is the essential task that the foundation performs. Banco de Alimentos currently supplies 28,133 users in Mallorca. It does so thanks to the surpluses and donations that the foundation distributes among 93 entities in charge of delivering food to users in vulnerable situations. Of these almost 28,200 people, 1,070 are children from 0 to 2 years old, 6,095 are children and young people between 3 and 15 years old and 20,968 are over 16 years old.

Marga Prohens wanted to highlight the fact that Banco de Alimentos has never stopped carrying out its task. Despite the difficulties that inflation and the rise in energy prices have meant in recent years, all beneficiaries have continued to receive help from Banco de Alimentos thanks to the constant work and solidarity of the 25 volunteers who work there.

For all this, with this visit from the Government of the Balearic Islands has reiterated a message of full support and maximum collaboration to the Food Bank. In fact, as a sign of this commitment, the Conselleria de Presidencia has signed the renewal of an agreement for the transfer of a warehouse in Son Tous that the foundation needs for the development of its work and that the entity was already used during the pandemic.

The president of the Government has been clear: “The president of the Foundation knows that he can count on this Government because we know that the work they do is essential and demonstrates solidarity in the Balearic Islands,” said Marga Prohens.
